Almost ready to begin

I have been pondering how I am going to help myself succeed this year, and I was reminded of something one of my favorite teachers told his class.  It was my Government and Economics class and Mr. Carnes said that the economy is like a plate of spaghetti if you move one noodle you are going to move another.

That really applies to life, every decision you make moves another part of your life, sometimes the move is good, sometimes it is bad, and sometimes it is neutral, but you have to be aware that one thing will influence and move another thing.

So here I am pondering my life also known as a plate of spaghetti and wondering if this will work or not work.  Ultimately I think it will but I hope to remember that things may move in an unexpected manner and that is ok.

An example, exercise it moves a lot of noodles on my plate.
  1. Physically it will benefit me - cardio vascular health that I don't necessarily see but I suppose I might see in in blood pressure readings.
  2. It will potentially lead to weight loss which will benefit me and I will see.
  3. It will help me sleep better.
  4. It will help improve my happiness.
But it can spiral out from there as well, if I am sleeping better I will have more energy which means I will likely do more.  I will be able to do more fun stuff and cross more things off my list.   If my happiness level is improved I will be able to more easily spread my happiness to others.

I have been in a downward spiral, where I feel tired so I eat poorly and don't exercise and then I don't want to do things even things I enjoy.   As I was thinking of this plate of spaghetti I call life and identifying how those actions can produce a downward spiral, I had the stunning realization that I can have an upward spiral as well.  Just looking at what I wrote above shows me that it can happen.

Today I started my test run of 2019 and tomorrow will be another test run, however I begin in earnest on Jan 1st even though it is a Tuesday.  That first week will be a short week.  Going forward my weeks will begin on Monday, so my second week begins on Jan 7th.
