Cult like

Right now I am very frustrated with what I perceive to be this cult like highly pressurized environment to get the COVID vaccine.  

To be honest I don't have anything against the vaccine and I am very happy to see so many people want to get it, that is awesome good for them.  It is amazing that this vaccine is available so 'Yeah Science!' as all the kids are saying these days.

BUT what frustrates me is the almost blatant bullying of those that don't want to receive the vaccine.  Some may not feel comfortable with it, due to their concerns with long term affects (which is valid, I don't care how long the concept of the RNA vaccine concept has been in development the fact is we simply don't have the data.).  Some may not be comfortable just because they don't like vaccines for whatever reason.  There are even some that believe in the science but simply don't want it. And finally, there are some that trust the science but do not like the fact that aborted fetal cells were used in the development and therefore are not comfortable with it.

The idea of the vaccine is so emotionally and politically charged right now that it is hard to have a rational discussion either way.

It is highly possible to trust the science and just not want the vaccine.  I trust the science on the flu shot but I don't want those either.  I think it is a personal choice, and it is a medical choice, and medical decisions used to be private.  And yes I understand that not all medical info is strictly private, the example is vaccinations for school attendance, this whole scenario is still to new to really make a dispassionate decision on.

For the past year the news, social media, and some politicians have made this a black and white issue pitting people against each other and treating the populace as infants, and it is to the detriment of society.  Nothing good ever comes from turning neighbor against neighbor, family member against family member and that is where we are, people are ready, willing and do denounce people based on one small thing, and we are moving away from being a compassionate and caring society.

We are all different and we all have different values.  To live in a functioning society we do need to give up some of our privacy for the benefit of the whole but this is not one of those areas.

I am losing my momentum...

in many different areas.  I am still in showed up mode just skating by and maintaining but not breaking out of my rut. In some ways, I want to say it is ok because I spent two weekends in NJ visiting my Aunts and helping clear away some things at their house and the funeral.  I think everyone in this house has been sick not all at once so it seems like it has lasted forever.  So yeah there has been a lot of stress and uncertainty. I spent a good chunk of today focusing on some business-related things that I am really hope come to fruition.  I have also been doing some planning on Pinterest to try to incorporate some fun with my boys.  One of my fears is that as a 'Boy Mom' that I don't engage with them as much as I should or could because quite frankly I love them to bits but their interests don't really align with mine.  As the parent I know that it is my job to focus on them and come up with ways to join their interests, I get a lot of support from ...

Success...Happiness...Preconceived Notions....Letting Go

I am not really sure where I am going with this but I have been toying with this idea that success doesn't lead to happiness but it can sure enhance it.  So what exactly is success and really shouldn't I define success for me and ignore what "others" define as success? I have been thinking about this a lot and not really going anywhere partly because I am afraid of the answer.  But really I need to think about this for my own happiness, I get to decide what is right for me.  I also need to accept that I do not live in an ideal world so my vision of what I thought was success, probably isn't going to exist in the real world.  I need to adjust my idea of success to match reality and not what I wish, I have done it in other areas...
