IG Live Questions and Answers

The past two days I have listened to the IG Live with Gretchen and Liz ('cause we are on a first-name basis even if they don't know it!) and decided to write out some answers to the questions they posed.  I didn't take notes so some of these questions maybe just ones I made up in my head.

Are you having trouble sleeping?

I didn't think I was but now I am realizing that yep got it.  Fortunately for me if I have a bad night Mr.Padawan is able to get up with the boys and let me sleep in a bit and vice versa.  Most of what is bothering me seems to be the tension in my shoulders, it is hard to work out and leaves me physically tired even if I am not mentally tired in the morning.  That and the stupid seasonal allergies that is causing some congestion which then makes my CPAP a bit vexing and I get air leaks; they are minor in the sense that my numbers are still good but the hiss of the air or even feeling the air blow on parts of my face wakes me up.  Yes you can feel the air on your face from the mask or at least I can, I have a nasal cradle and I can sleep on my side the frame and cradle are designed for it but what I find happening is that it shifts just a tiny bit which causes the leak which I can sometimes feel bounce off my actual pillow and to my face.

Are you able to read?

YES!  Reading has always been my escape for depression or anxiety (just low level stuff thankfully).  I am certainly sticking to authors I know or books that seem super fluffy.

3 Tiered List

I don't have a three-tiered list but I do have this, and I want to add learning how to scroll IG Live to read the comments without entering and exiting all the time.
Gosh my handwriting is terrible!  It really says media and not medid for the last item I swear!

Shoes or No Shoes?

I will put myself in the shoes camp, but truthfully I am both on and off depending on my mood and the temperature, just don't tell me what to do.  I find it funny that the people that I have run into that are the most vehement about the no shoes in the house are also cat owners and generally have more than one cat.  This does not compute to me, they argue that you bring in so much dirty, bacteria etc from your shoes yet they have an animal(s) in their house that walks in their own excrement and then walks around the house.  Ok yes, I realize the bury it but still kicking up all that litter to cover their 'business' is going to stir up those same type of microscopic badies that they are worried about when someone wears their shoes in the house.  Honestly, if you feel like not wearing shoes and that is your preference fine, however, if you are using the 'it isn't sanitary' excuse and you have a pet I am going to think you are a bit of a hypocrite unless you are washing their paws with soap and water and not just wiping their paws when they come in or use the litter box.

Side note Mr.Padawan came with two cats, and the lived out their lives in comfort and were pampered but we will not be getting any more.

Another reason that I like wearing shoes is that sometimes my back and legs hurt, and I find wearing correctly fitting shoes helps alleviate that pain.  Other times my feet are just cold, and I am sorry slippers are not the same thing at all.

Apps you love

Todoist - single person lists or group lists.  I share with MrPadawan  and we list things that we need to do that are household chores.

Our Groceries, we share lists so one of us can add to the list while the other is at the store.  Multiple lists for different stores. Only con is that for the free version once you organize a list for a store that goes for all lists.  This is fine for me since 98% of my grocery shopping is done at one store so the list works well for most things.

How do you avoid boredom snacking

I have been chewing a lot of gum.  Or I crochet or color in my coloring books because with either activity my hands are busy and I cannot snack at the same time because it will get my project greasy or covered in crumbs.

Wondering what you can do?

  • Practice your crockpot recipes to know which ones will work when you are actually out of the house.  Some recipes have a shorter cook time than what you would need if you were out of the house.
  • Use your commute time as a bonus to do something random.  I am trying to write and mail a physical note every day (at least M-F).  Maybe you wanted to do Christmas cards but were to crazied and let it slide, maybe send out Spring Card.
  • Watch the Martian at least you are not alone needing to fend for yourself and grow some crops and ration your food to absurd levels about to send yourself out into space in a 'convertible'.
  • Watch Twister  I am not sure why but that movie makes me laugh and it reminds me that sure we are largely stuck inside our houses are not destroyed.  Plus one of the goto lines Mr. Padawan and I use (and it is slightly paraphrased) 'We gotta go we got cows!' when we are trying to hustle the kids out the door.

 Ideas to help small businesses:

  • Look at your budget are you saving money by not commuting?  If so can you spend that money at a local small business, especially restaurants that are only open for take-out and delivery.  Or purchase something pretty (if that is your speed) from a local jeweler or artist.  Book yourself a massage or manicure for late April or beyond.
  • If you are in a non-urban area can you schedule a service with a landscaping company?  Were you planning on fixing a deck, installing a  patio, fire pit or something else for the exterior?  Call those businesses they may still be open if not putting down a deposit now could seriously help their cashflow and feel less anxious about the survival of their business as they see work line up.
  • Do you like having your family photo taken?  See if you can book a session with a local photographer for late spring or summer, again putting a deposit down can help the cashflow.
  • Call your local florist, who wouldn't like some pretty blooms?
  • Plan an end of the sequester party and order a cake from a bakery.
I know that Mr.Padawan and I are looking at doing some of those things, each bit helps and if you can do it all and more awesome, but don't feel badly if you can only do one thing.  Do what you can and what is within your budget.
