Valentine's Day

Valentine's day is coming up on this Sunday, and neither Mr. Padawan or I really do a ton to celebrate it.  I don't find the holiday offensive but it just isn't really our thing.  One of the reasons I am not a huge fan is the cost and I am frugal in nature.  We keep things relatively low key and do not ignore the day itself.

I sent Valentine's in with the little Padawans (because they had to be in early to be quarantined🤯 and well school vacation (don't get me started) is next week so no one will be in school that week.  Mr. Padawan and I will give each other cards, we will have our annual dinner of Pizza and Prosecco, a nod to our first Valentine's together when there was a big storm so we just had pizza and Champagne.  Yes we do now have Prosecco rather than Champagne as a nod to our honeymoon in Italy, don't tell the French but I think he Prosecco better.

One of the things that I have been struggling with during this whole lockdown (regardless of which color coded phase we happen to be in at any given time) is taking time to appreciate what we have.

This phrase really is very appropriate and I really wish I had found it a year ago, ok I had it since it was sitting on my shelf but I didn't really know it was there until this weekend.

There is one other thing that I have been trying to do and that is to create minor little celebrations.  Over the summer I made sure to celebrate National Ice Cream day again and we had a sampler of different ice cream sandwiches.  I have made sled runs in the snow for the boys to use (and I may have used it too).  With that in mind I think I am going to do this for the kids for Valentine's day and surprise them and let them eat them for breakfast, because what the heck right?

It seems straightforward enough and easy. So why not give a little nod to the holiday and do something a little bit different.  I know that the little Padawans, and Mr. Padawan as well do very much enjoy Rice Krispie treats.  For me they are Meh, but I will likely indulge just because.
